Hello, I am using Red Hat 3.03 and kernel 2.0. I have a
HP laserjet 4l and an Epson FX-1050 (9 pin dot-matrix)
that I am trying to get to work with linux.
I opted to use APS v 4.9.1 (a lot of recommendation
within the newsgroups for this filter). And the Epson
works fine under it, however the Laserjet does not.
The following is a snippet from my /etc/printcap file:
ascii|lp1|ljet4l-letter-ascii-mono|ljet4l ascii mono:\
lp|lp2|ljet4l-letter-auto-mono|ljet4l auto mono:\
raw|lp3|ljet4l-letter-raw|ljet4l auto raw:\
That is what the lines look like that deal with the Laserjet.
I can get the Laserjet to print out text files (they look
horrible though), but if I try any other type of file I get
a page with what looks like ASCII at the top then followed
by numerous amounts of blank pages. If anyone can shed some
light on this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
