Problems with APM BIOS (kernel 1.3.49)

Post by Bora Akyo » Wed, 01 May 1996 04:00:00

Hi,

I have a GA586ATE/P mb with award bios and I enabled the power
management while building the kernel. However, it does not work and
gives me a message saying Unrecognized device id. What is wrong here?

By the way here is my boot message:

APM BIOS version 1.1 Flags 0x07 (Driver version 0.6b)
    Entry f000:803c cseg16 f000 dseg fdfc cseg len ef7f, dseg len a0
    Connection version 1.1
AC on line, battery status unknown, battery life unknown
battery flag 0x80, battery life 0 seconds

1. PPP and 1.3.49 Kernel Problems

I just successfully installed the 1.3.49 linux kernel and rebooted.
The boot messages indicated that PPP was installed in the kernel, BUT
when I did a cat of /proc/net/dev, none of the PPP devices showed up.

Furthermore, when I run pppd, it says that PPP is not available on this
system.  Am I doing something wrong (PPP was working perfectly on my
last kernel:  1.2.13)?
