by I am wondering if anyone has yet tried to port linux to the IBM
thinkpad 701 series. I have not seen any comments regarding it in the
usual places (ie, here or on tsx-11.mit.edu).
I am a novice to linux, and am considering this machine for my first
attempt.
Are there any gotchas? Does the port for the 755 series work on this
machine? Any problems driving the internal modem, disk or display?
Also, I am considering using the machine at home with an external
monitor. I have not had much luck with acquiring info about what
chipset is used for the display card, and/or whether it will drive a
1024x768 non-interlaced monitor effectively.
