|I'm thinking of getting applixware. I've read the box
|and the iformation at www.redhat.com but haven't
|seen the answer to this question. Can applixware
|import and export ms-word and ms-excel files?

According to my Applix manual ( v4.3 ) it will import M$Word v4.0 ( DOS )
and v2.0, v6.0 ( M$Word for Windows ) & v5.1 ( Macintosh )

As for spreadsheets, it can import: WKS, WK1, WK3, WK4, XLS 3.0, XLS 4.0,
XLS 5.0, XLS 7.0, SYLK, DIF, XDIF, CSV, ASCII

I have ApplixWare 4.2, which I rarely ever use in favor of TeX and
even HTML editing. This program doesn't have very many input and
output filters, and the ones that it has are rather poor. I have
heard that ApplixWare 4.3 does a much better job with document
filtering, but since I can't afford this product, I can't really
say for sure.

Offtopic: was there ever a freeware Winword 2.x/6.x input filter
available for Linux? How about RTF?
