Usually while in X (under Linux), I can change to a different console by
pressing CTRL-ALT-F1. Then I am given a login prompt.
On my Debian Potato system with kernel 2.2.13, running XFree86 3.3.6 and
wdm (display/login manager) 1.19, when I switch consoles, I see on the
screen my previous X screen shown four times (each 25% smaller and
unreadable). I have to press CTRL-ALT-F7 to get back.
(This problem occurs with these window managers: blackbox, fvwm95, and
qvwm. I do not want to use a window manager feature to create a new
console, because I want to be able to login on the other console as a
different user. This system is my mom's and when I visit her home I want
to use her system as myself without closing her current X
session/clients.)
Does anyone have any ideas where the problem is? Or where I can find
further info on solving this?
Thanks,
