Hi Vlad,
I'm not sure what you did but I'm pretty sure I know what I did to end
up with the same problem. You see, I'm a linux newbie and I got carried
away with making myself a brand new "kernel" (clever me), and even
managed to edit the lilo.conf file to retain the old kernel as a backup,
but boot off the new kernel as default. I cleverly moved the old vmlinuz
to vmlinuz.old, then copied my brand new vmlinuz into boot... Then I hit
ctrl alt del and watched my system reboot.... except it got to
"Loading......" and then stopped.
Guess which idiot forgot to run lilo to update the MBR properly... yup,
me.
Well, I rescued the system with my rescue disk, ran lilo again, and
Robert was my mother's brother..
Dunno if this helps you, but I hope so. If you find out any other bright
ideas, please share :)
Cheers,
Stuart
