Hello, there.
I need help.
I can use 1024*768 8bpp and 640*480 16bpp but not 800*600 16bpp color
for my Linux XFree86 3.1.2E (SVGA driver).
My vedio card is a Trident TGUI9440AGI PCI 1Mb. My monitor is a MAG
DX15F.
When I use 1024*768 8bpp display, the "Maximum allowed dot clock" is
75MHz for my X. When I tried the 16bpp color display, the "Maximum
allowed dot clock" was changed to be only 31.5MHz. Is that normal?
I used xf86config to prepare my XF86Config file. For the 640*480
display, I got one mode in the list that it has a mode clock smaller
than 31.5MHZ. For the 800*600 display, I didn't get such a mode in the
list. The result is that the 640*480 16bpp display is fine but the
800*600 16bpp display is not available.
Anybody knows the solution? How can I get a 800*600 display mode which
has a mode clock smaller than 31.5MHz and can fit for my display card
and monitor? Or how can I have the "Maximum allowed dot clock" to be
bigger than 31.5MHz when I use 16bpp color?
Many thanks in advance.
