LAME Compile problems (/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXi)

Post by tgr.. » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

I am having a problem compiling LAME. I gather that it has something
to do with the fact that I am possibly missing a library? Can someone
please tell me why this error occurs and how to fix it?

Ret Hat Linux 6.2
kernel - 2.2.17 #1
gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux
Pentium 233 MMX
64MB RAM

-------------------------------------------

gcc -o lame  main.o -L. -lmp3lame -lm   `gtk-config --libs`  -lncurses
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXi
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [lame] Error 1
-------------------------------------------

Thank you!

You need below lib:

/usr/X11R6/lib/libXi.a
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXi.so
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXi.so.6
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXi.so.6.0

did you have it in your /usr/X11R6/lib ???

If NOT then try to have it.

good luck,
zxc
