Linux Users of New York City Region
LINUX INSTALLATION FESTIVAL
Bring your computer to the next meeting of the Linux users of NYC and the
developers of the hot new release of Red Hat Commercial Linux will help you
install Linux on your machine.
This meeting is being hosted by Red Hat Software out of their Westport
Connecticut offices (don't ask us how a bunch of techno-hillbillies from
North Carolina have an office in Connecticut - come along and find out :).
So put your computer in the trunk and come out for a day in Connecticut.
Besides the opportunity to have the -very- latest versions of Linux
installed on your computer, here's the chance to ask a couple of the leading
Linux developers of software for the commercial market what the
opportunities are for your skills or product on Linux.
So bring your computer, or even your laptop if you have an ethernet card or
a built-in CD (but not parallel port CD), and go home with the finest Linux
installation possible.
REGISTRATION:
To avoid disappointment we need you to register if you intend to come with a
computer. We will attempt to load Linux on all registered computers brought
to the event. No guarantees of course, there are still too many unsupported
pieces of pc hardware out there. To maximize your chances of a successful
installation check out the latest Linux compatibility listing on Sunsite
before coming.
Registration is not required (but still appreciated) if you are not bringing
a computer.

WHERE AND HOW TO GET HERE:
Westport is less than one hour by car from Manhattan, and about two hours
from the Boston MA area. You can get here by car (we are just off I95 at
exit 17) or by train from Grand Central Station. We'll arrange to collect
you from the train station if you take the train.

From NYC:
By Train: Take Metro North to Westport Station and then grab a cab or call
(203) 454-5500. Trains are hourly on the weekend.
Check with Metro-North for a convenient departure.
By Car: Take I95 North from NYC to exit 17 in Connecticut. Turn left at
the bottom of the ramp. Drive 3/4 of a mile to the Sunoco Station, turn
left on Sylvan, turn right into first drive and you are there.
From Boston:
By Car: Take Mass Turnpike to I84 to Hartford to I91 to New Haven to I95
to Exit 17, Westport. Turn Left at bottom of ramp and drive 3/4 of a mile
to the Sunoco Station, turn left on Sylvan, turn right into first drive and
you are there.
WHEN: Saturday July 29th, 1995
From 9.00 am to 3.00 pm.
MISCELLANEOUS INFO:
Coffee and soda and donuts will be supplied. There are -lots- of local
deli's and restaurants.
You will also be able to pick up the latest Linux products from the
ACC Bookstore who will be there.
FUTURE MEETINGS:
We will be holding a meeting at Unix Expo in at the Jacob Javits Center in
New York City on September 20th. Exact meeting topic, date and time will be
announced soon.
We are looking for volunteers to help organize meetings. If you have, or
know of, space to hold a meeting we will be pleased to help find speakers
and manage publicity.
