ps->tex html->tex?

Post by highlande » Wed, 29 May 2002 01:45:02

Hello

        Do You know any program which could convert:
1. ps to html
2. html to tex (latex)
3. pdf to tex (latex)

Do You know any others interesting converting operations (and progs
which could do that) ?

Thanx
Michal

It's all not possible. I know html2ps.

It's not possible to convert a file like ps or html to tex.
You (or the converter) have no information about the logical structure
of the document. HTML and (La)TeX are logical formats, ps and pdf
descibe a page, not the logical structure.

Sure? A short google search shows:

ftp://bradley.bradley.edu/pub/guru/ps2html/home.html
http://www.nzdl.org/html/prescript.html

There are multiple html2tex tools available, haven't used them,
however most tools like html2ps or pstopdf are just some well
written perl scripts using ghostscript, which produce rather good
output.

Also take a look at the*package "typehtml" that comes with teTeX.

It depends on what tools are used to create the html or PS.

1. TeX -> dvips -> gs -> DOS -> dj500: printer hangs

Yes, I have read the printer FAQ.

I cp the output of gs to a dos floppy, which I then take to my
parent's dos box and try to print.

When I try to print the document, the printer prints a few lines, and
then hangs (with the busy light still on).  I have tried the SLS
binary with DEVICE=deskjet, and I compiled from sources and used
DEVICE=djet500.  Both experince the same problem.

I thought, hmm... could be that DOS/Unix crlf problem, so I tried
sending control codes to the printer setting it for more Unix-like
behavior.  No change.

Argh.
