Linux International is a non-profit organization comprised of prominent
Linux vendors, developers, and users that promotes the use of Linux
worldwide. One look at the Who's Who at LI is staggering: www.li.org. Many
of the famous Linux hackers you've heard about participate in LI in some

Jon "maddog" Hall is the Executive Director of Linux International and
is formerly of Compaq's Digital UNIX Marketing Group. It was his
initiative - giving Linus Torvalds a DEC ALpha as a gift - that prompted
Linus to port the kernel to the 64bit Alpha platform. A UNIX hacker at
heart, Maddog also authored the well-known book "Linux for Dummies" and is
also the godfather of Linus' children. When he's not spreading the
seeds of Linux for us, maddog makes time to marry people in his alternate
role as an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church and Justice of
the Peace in the State of New Hampshire.

This is a good meeting for Linux beginners, business people, and anyone
looking for an introductory discussion about Linux technology and the
Linux industry.
