1. TriTeal CDE 4.2 won't work under Redhat 5.0
I can't get TriTeal CDE 4.2 to work under RedHat 5.0. It worked fine under
RedHat 4.1. Now, I get the TriTeal CDE startup screen and then that's it!
I've applied the libc5 patch that RedHat has plus the update to ld. I've
applied all other patches as well (dtconfg and dtlp) but to no avail.
When I look in my ~/.dt/startlog, this is what I see:
Cannot register service: RPC: Unable to receive; errno = Connection refused
Cannot register service: RPC: Unable to receive; errno = Connection refused
Cannot register service: RPC: Unable to receive; errno = Connection refused
Cannot register service: RPC: Unable to receive; errno = Connection refused

X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).

get_myaddress: socket: Invalid argument
I've setup the hosts file as per the RedHat errata web site as well as the
host.conf and /etc/sysconfig/network files. But, it still won't work!
I guess other people have gotten it to work, but for me, it's a no go.
Here's my files:
host.conf:
order hosts,bind multi on
ifcfg-lo:
DEVICE=lo
IPADDR=127.0.0.1
NETMASK=255.0.0.0
NETWORK=127.0.0.0
BROADCAST=127.255.255.255
ONBOOT=yes
BOOTPROTO=none
first line of hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.netexp.net
Again, I >have< applied the TEDlibc5 fix rpm and the ld rpm as well.
If anyone has any ideas on how to get this to work, I'd appreciate it
very much.
I CAN start it up with just dtterm and no window manager. However, once I
try to fire off dtwm or /usr/dt/bin/Xsession, it just hangs and then I get
the errors in my ~/.dt/startlog file as described earlier in this post.
Thanks!
