module compile

Hiya:

I'm trying to get modules set on my linux box - dx2-66, 2.1.13.
When I run make install on the untarred module files, I get an
error relating to no header, or something like that. I recompiled
my kernel to support modules, but am not sure what else is needed.
I read the section in Running Linux about modules, but I can't
make...so anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks

It would be helpful if you could be a bit more explicit.  I take
it your kernel is 1.2.13, but what version of the modules are you
trying to compile, and what exactly is the error message you're
getting?  (Note that you can create a log of the errors by doing
"make <whatever> 2>errlog".)

It would definitely help :-)

Although, I might guess what happened: If you try to compile kerneld
on a "pure" 1.2.13 it _will_ fail, because linux/include/kerneld.h
isn't there yet...  It is spelled out in the README.kerneld file...
So, one _has_ to apply the kernel patch _before_ making the kernel.

That's all there is to it...

1. Activate-module compile problem

I've been trying to compile Apache 1.3.2 with PHP and
mod_auth_mysql as modules.

Configuration fails when I use the following:
./configure --prefix=/www --enable-module=usertrack \
--activate-module=src/modules/php3/libphp3.a \
--activate-module=src/modules/auth_mysql/libauth_mysql.a

When the activate instructions are in the order above, I see the
error:
gcc: AuthMySQL/2.20:"No such file or directory"
helpers/dummy.c:0:undetermined string or character constant
helpers/dummy.c:0:possible real start of undetermined string
make: ***[dummy] Error 1

If I reverse the order, the complaint is essentially identical
except that the AuthMySQL/2.20 is replaced with a PHP3.0.4 reference.

I think the problem may be related to resolving two -DSERVER_SUBVERSION
values, but I have no idea if that is the real problem or merely a
sign.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who can say how to get two (or more)
modules to compile.

Thanks in advance.
