no gnome main menu with gnome and tcsh at suse 7.2

system: suse 7.2, gnome (must be 1.4)
problem: when adding a new user with /bin/tcsh, that user doesnt get the gnome
main menu on his panel. with /bin/bash, there are no probs.

anyone any idea? TIA
