VARARGS not working on linux 2.0.27 - what is needed?

Post by Michael Wo » Thu, 09 Jan 1997 04:00:00

I tried to compile an application that requires variable arguement
lists and the functions vprintf, vsprintf, and vfprintf.

But the compilation gives errors about __built_va something or other
(I am tyring to recall since I do not have the laptop with me).

varargs.h appeared to be missing, although the starg.h which checks
host types and uses the right va-<arch>.h file does not include an
i486-linux.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

AFAIK varargs.h and stdarg.h provide subtly different interfaces to
the same thing.  Source code written for one will not work with the
other (although I think the object code is OK).

Are you saying that /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/*/include/varargs.h
is missing?

1. Slow format does not work with 2.0.27 boot/root disks

The "slow format" setup option does not seem to work with the new
Slackware boot/root disks.

I booted with the new 2.0.27 kernel bare.i/color.gz boot/root disks
and tried to format a 500MB Linux partition with the "slow format"
option. After a long while (over ten minutes) nothing had happened.
It said "formatting" but there was no sound from the hard disk.
I tried the fast format and it worked fine.

I then tried the older 2.0.0 bare.i/color.gz boot/root disks and
the slow format worked fine.

Is this a known problem?
