I'd recommend you upgrade to 3.1, which is happily running here on my
WinXP Host OS. :)

VMWare 3.0/3.1 doesn't yet support RH 7.3, I was trying to get it
running yesterday and 7.3 changed the layout of header files so 3.1
couldn't recompile itself.  In the past, it's taken about a month for
VMWare to get an update out to run with new RedHat releases, so they
should have a new update out soon.

Are you sure?

My VMWare 3.1 is happily running RedHat 7.3 now.

Running 7.3 as a guest OS might well work.  Running it as a host OS
is not currently supported by VMWare, and trying to recompile the VMWare
modules using the vmware-config.pl script with 7.3 will fail because 7.3
rearranged how the header files are laid out.  Also, if you check VMWare's
site, they have a list of host OS's supported, and RH 7.3 isn't on that
list.

I'm running an eval of VMWare 3.1 with RH7.3 as the host OS. I had to
install the kernal header files before I could recompile the VMWare
modules. After the install VMWare was able to recompile the modules. It
is now running with no problems.

1. diamond rio 300 not working under RH 7.3 & RH 8

Yes I know the Rio 300 is way outdated, but I'm hoping someone here
has dealt with this issue before and knows how to fix it.

I'm trying to use my Diamond Rio 300 mp3 player on a RH 8 pc with an
ECS K7S5a mb and an Athlon XP 1600 cpu.  I can connect to the player
using the rio program from the Snowblind Alliance
(http://www.world.co.uk/sba/), but there are random gaps in the mp3
files that are uploaded.  Using win 98 on the same machine I can add
songs to the rio without any problems.  Has anyone else gotten this
program to work with the k7s5a motherboard?
