I am having trouble getting an atapi ide cdrom to be recognized using
the linux boot/root disks icon_boot/icon_root. The major problem is
that only my primary IDE card is recognized as ide0 but the secondary
ide card is not recoginized. There are two card because the primary
card is a pci bus mastering caching controller card which does not
work with an ATAPI CDROM. The first ide card is in the standard
configuration and the second ide card is as well in the standard
configuration for a secondary controller card. I have tried to
send the command line parameter with lilo boot :
"ramdisk ide=0x170,15"
as well as every other conceviable combination of ide and ide1
with different ordering ofthe address and the interrupt parameter.
Any Suggestions Linux gurus out there ????
A second question has anyone written drivers for the advanced
capabilities of the MATROX MGA controller such as that which
has been written for windows NT ? I am not looking for the normal
answer of "READ THE HOWTO PAGES" because I have. I have gotten
X86 to work in one of the basic modes and that is about it !!
