Strange console behavior

Strange console behavior

Post by Jeffrey Kovac » Tue, 28 Jan 1997 04:00:00

Greetings,

I just installed the slackware distribution of Linux on
an old CompuAdd 386sx laptop I found lying about.  Everything
went well and it works almost perfectly.

The only thing I can't figure out is the crazy behavior of
the consoles.  They work fine for the first screen.  Then
when the cursor reaches the bottom of the screen and the text
scrolls, only the first twelve lines actually scroll, the rest
of the screen is unchanged.  If I switch to another virtual
console and then switch back the screen is corrected, but the
behavior continues.

Anyone have a clue as to what is going on?

Thanks in advance.

1. Strange cursor behaviour in Radeon 8500 fb console in 2.5.66

Hello

Since (I guess) 2.5.58, there have been problems with cursor in Radeon framebuffer console. In the previous versions the cursor was nat visible at all. Now (in 2.5.66) it blinks iregularily and at times it changes shape and color (it seems that something writes in the cursor's image).

Has anyone experienced the same and aren't there any patches ?

Regards

Petr
