I hear so many people talk about some 'Linux Bible'...
is it an ascii document or a book ?
where can I get a copy ?
TIA

It's a collection of HOWTOs and documents from the Linux Documentation
Project, including the Linux Network Admin Guide and Kernel Hacker's
Guide offered by Yggdrasil (see http://www.yggdrasil.com/ or e-mail

more convenient to read than reading electronic copies.

Both,  It's all the README's and HOWTO's that came with a three year old
Yggdrasil distribution printed in a 600 page book.  Since those README's
have been written by many different people for numerous releases of
kernels and utilities, there are lots of contradictions and
inconsistencies.

Having said that, if you can't get far enough to read those README's a
printed copy is always helpful.

Quote:>where can I get a copy ?

In a computer/book store or in /usr/doc/faq on your PC.

I admire your passion, Chris..

The only issues which have kept myself from looking seriously at Linux
would be:

* It's Unix and the learning curve to start getting productive strikes me
as probably very steep

* It doesn't support plug-and-play.  If your hardware doesn't have Linux
drivers, it don't play..

* Not nearly the amount of developers out there doing stuff for Linux as
there are for Wintel.  Can I get MS Office for Linux?  Can I get
Photoshop for Linux?  Can I get QuarkXpress for Linux? etc.. a big turn
off for me.
