1. location of source for generic man command?

Hi,

I would like to find the source for a generic man command that would let
me take advantage of a MANPATH environment variable.  Right now, to read
man pages of locally-installed utilities, on our ultrix systems, we have
to use an alias to run the command: /usr/ucb -P /usr/local/man !*.

On our Sun workstations, we just set the MANPATH, and the man command is
able to look through the path for the desired man page.

I was hoping to be able to use the sources from linux, but am running
into problems with both man-2.7 and man-1.4.  I tried to build man-2.7,
but there was a missing "find_name".  I tried to build man-1.4, but
there was a missing "_catopen" and "_catgets".

I was able to find catopen.c and catgets.c, but they both just refer to
_catopen and _catgets, respectively.

Does anyone know where the missing pieces are?  Or, how to configure the
build such that they are not necessary?

thanks,
tw
