Dear Sir ,
  I am a user of Slackware Linux 3.0 attached to " LINUX
UNLEASHED " .
  I have installed it in my PC and am able to configure the X-Windows for
use .
  However , I have not yet succeeded in mounting my CD-ROM drive !!
  Please let me know the full details of the procedures needed to
configure my CD-ROM for use with my PC and the method(s) used to mount
the CD-ROM drive . It is because I am a beginning user of Linux & Unix !!
  All the information about my PC package is as follows :
  1  ) 486DX2 PC (66 MHz) (IBM-compatible machine)
  2  ) Processor : Intel 486
  3  ) Motherboard : UM8810P AIO (for Phoenix BIOS) (4 layers)
  4  ) Cache Size : 256KB
  5  ) Memory : 16MB
  6  ) System BIOS : Phoenix BIOS (128KB EPROM or Flash BIOS)
  7  ) Slots : Three 16-bit ISA slots
               One set of shared slots that includes one 16-bit ISA
               slot(S4) and one PCI slot(J4)
               Two PCI slots
  8  ) I/O Connectors : Two serial ports (16550 UART compatible)
                        One parallel port (STANDARD\ECP\EPP)
                        One FDC connector
                        Two PCI IDE connectors (Supports four IDE drives)
                        One AT keyboard connector
  9  ) Form Factor : 3/4 Baby AT Size
  10 ) Devices attached : A ) Topcon Monitor (1024x768)
                          B ) Modem (to COM 1 )
                          C ) Printer (to LPT 1)
                          D ) One 540MB Harddisk (to PCI IDE Primary
                              Connector) (as Master)
                          E ) One 1GB Harddisk (to PCI IDE Secondary
                              Connector)
                          F ) One 2.1GB Harddisk (to PCI IDE Secondary
                              COnnector also)
                          G ) Panasonic CR-562-J (CD-ROM) (2X speed)
                              (to CD-ROM interface connector of Sound
                              Blaster 16 of Creative Technology Ltd.)
                          H ) Sound Blaster 16 audio card (Panasonic
                              Interface) (to one of the four 16-bit
                              slots)
                          I ) One SCSI card for a scanner (to one of the
                              four 16-bit slots)
                          J ) One TV-MPEG card (to one of the four 16-bit
                              slots)
  11 ) Setting for sound card :
                          A ) Base I/O Address : 220
                          B ) MPU-401 MIDI Port : 330
                          C ) IRQ : 5
                          D ) Low DMA Channel : 1
                          E ) High DMA Channel : 5
  12 ) Error message(s) during Linux booting :
          end_request : I/O error dev 2100 , sector 64
          isofs_read_super : bread failed , dev 0x2100 iso_blknum 16
  13 ) Error message(s) after mounting a CD-ROM disk (/dev/sbpcd)
       (However , ' ls -l /dev/sbpcd ' indicates that /dev/sbpcd is a
       block device seemingly !) :
          /dev/sbpcd is not a block device .  
  14 ) Intruction(s) used by me to mount CD-ROM :
          mount -t iso9660 /dev/sbpcd /cdrom
                          OR :
          mount -t msdos /dev/sbpcd /cdrom
  15 ) Remarks :
          Same results emerged for mount /dev/sbpcd0 , /dev/sbpcd1 ,
          /dev/sbpcd2 and /dev/sbpcd3 .
  16 ) Others :
          I want to solve my problem without changing any cable connecting !!!!
