nohup does not work with 'make' on SuSE 7.1

nohup does not work with 'make' on SuSE 7.1

I have the following problem:

When I run the Makefile given below using the command
  nohup make seven
and close the xterm in which I started this command, I find the
following output in my nohup.out:

make: *** [one] Hangup

When I try the same with a shell script that just echoes hello
and then waits for a second, it works.

My configuration: SuSE Linux 7.1, make 3.79.1, nohup 2.0, kernel 2.4.2-SMP.

Strangely, it works on the following configuration:
SuSE 6.4, make 3.78.1, nohup 2.0, kernel 2.2.14-SMP.

Can anybody help?

Thanks in advance

1. Cannot find 'iptables' in Suse 7.1/kernel 2.4.0

I am running SuSE 7.1/kernel 2.4.0 and trying
to follow the HOWTO on IP Masquerading at

I have all the needed options turned on in the kernel.

I do not seem to find 'iptables' in either /usr/bin
or /usr/local/sbin. I cannot find the site which is recommended
as a site for downloading iptables 1.2.4. The mirror
site does not seem to have it either.

Can someone point me to the right location for iptables?
