1. HP All-in-One --Scan function w/ Print Server for OfficeJet 7100 series
These are good times for Linux! HP has sponsored
hpoj, a Sourceforge project...
... to develop Linux support for most Hewlett-Packard
OfficeJet, PSC, LaserJet, and PhotoSmart printer
multi-function peripherals (MFPs), which depending on
the model can print, scan, copy, fax, and/or access
digital camera memory cards.
The list of supported devices is pretty darn good,
Supported HP devices:
http://hpoj.sourceforge.net/suplist.shtml
I was able to load the driver on my Mandrake 9.1 (HP
supports a bunch of distros.) and get printing to work
quite easily on my OfficeJet 7140xi which is hanging
off the LAN using the JetDirect 200 print driver that
comes standard with the 7140xi.
Question: What is the hpoj command to interface with my scanner?
(The list cited above shows that "Scan" is supported for my
device.)
I tried, scanimage () but got the error:
"scanimage: no SANE devices found"
This doesn't surprise me as HP may not being using this
utility.
Please point the way to scanner heaven. I've made it past
printer heaven already.
Thanks much.
