SUNW,qfe1: 100 Mbps full duplex link up - internal transceiver???

Hi all,

I have received lots of messages indicating my qfe1 interface
connection is
down and up repeatedly. i really wonder what is going on and how do i
solve this problem. looking through sun forum and sunsolve doesnt
provide any concreate solution.
Has anyone  out there experience common problem and care to share your
solution?

While it could be a bad qfe, it might be something as simple as a bad
cable.  Try replacing the cable. See if it goes away.

If you're using a cisco router, you might want to force the port to
full-100, and also force the qfe port to full-100..  Ocassionaly a
mismatch with those can cause a link to go up and down, and having the
ports set to auto occasionally doesn't work with certian combinations of
routers/switches and Sun Ethernet cards....

You didn't mention if this problem has always been happening, or if it
is a recent occurance...

Post by shiqu » Sat, 03 Aug 2002 11:59:18

Hi all,

I have already force the Qfe interface to be running at 100Full Duplex
as what u can see in the error msg. i have also configure my Cisco
switch to be running at 100 Full Duplex as well...
All my other interface does not have this error msg except for qfe1
i have also tried changing port and cable ...but the problem still
occuring .

Any idea?

Thanks
Shiquan

SUNW,qfe1: 100 Mbps full duplex link up - internal transceiver???

Hello, please report your ndd -get autoneg

I am not very pleased, that you have to tell solaris
10hd 0
10fd 0
100hd 0
100fd 1
auto 0 (type "ndd solaris" in "google" to get the full syntax)

All my rc2.d/SXXnetspeed include every parameter a network-IF
could have, but only the desired is set to "1".

Isn't it a bit redundant, to tell the OS, that it's not 10hd, after
you told to do it 100fd?

1. run a 3c905c at 100 Mbps full duplex?

We're running a 3c905c with Linux 2.2.15 connected to an HP Procurve
10/100 autosensing switch. When booting the respective port is shown to
be set to 100 Mbps full duplex, but when the driver comes up it seems to
set the ethernet interface to 10 MBps half duplex (at least the switch
indicates so). What can be done about that problem? What driber should
we use?
