Hi,

I'm after information regarding the upgrade option for Solaris 2.4
from a system running 2.3. What gotchas are there? Can partitions
be resized? What happens to other (non-operating system) packages
for things like, for example, PCNFS? How about printer configurations,
NIS+ tables etc.?

I had trouble upgrading because my /opt was greater then 2 GB. The upgrade
would hang doing an fsck -m on the filesystem. The odd this is that I was
able to fsck -m /opt by hand without it* or giving errors. I was
able to do the upgrade by moving /opt to a smaller (<2 GB) on the same disk.

Yes, the fault is that they try to fsck the *block* device
instead of the *raw* device.

So fsck by hand does work, because fsck is smart enough to use the
block device. We had the problem with another partition, /opt
is just under 2GB (fortunately)

That installtool core dumped on us was *much* worse.
