Solaris 2.3 disk space woes

Solaris 2.3 disk space woes

Post by Seth Tis » Thu, 07 Apr 1994 09:58:43

Solaris 2.3 on a SPARCstation IPX.

du and df don't agree on how much disk space is free on my root

  acadia# du -dsk /
  acadia# df -k | head -2
Filesystem            kbytes    used   avail capacity  Mounted on
  /dev/dsk/c0t3d0s0      19213   16704     589    97%    /

The root partition fsck's out OK.

Any idea what might be causing this or how I might fix it other than
re-newfsing the partition?

1. Disk Space problem on Solaris 2.3!

Hi all:

We have a Sparc 20 running Solaris 2.3 and everytime one of the
directories get full, we have to go in and manually delete stuff.
The problem is, sometimes, that does not bring the percentage down,
no matter how much we delete, df -k doesn't show that more space
is being made available, only a reboot would show how much space
that we got back for the system?

Why is it doing that and how can we fix it.

Please Email.

Thank you.
