WINDOWS 95 and PC-NFS

Post by R.T.M. van Di » Fri, 05 Jan 1996 04:00:00

Hi,

I'm looking for PC-NFS which will support win95?
I have version 5.0 (5 user license), I'm able to use
the dos-mapped drives.
I must be possible to map these drives after the
windows logon screen.
There is in the network setup a Sunsoft option but the 5.0 version of
pcnfs.sys is not supported in windows 95.

<I found a NFS-client today at www.intergraph.com>
It is compatible with SUN's NFS server.
Comments about PC-NFS are still welcome.

check out samba, it is a non-NFS server for wfwg, win95,
and w/NT for unix machines. it allows you to serve
up disks and printers to anything running the ms networking/fileshareing
stuff and TCP/IP.

the ref is: http://lake.canberra.edu.au/pub/samba

PCNFS Pro 2.1 from Sunsoft installs & works real well, but it's only when you
readthe Read.me on the CD that ya discover that it is unable to support long
filenames!! (Even tho W95 & Unix does). The docs claim that it is due to
W95s way it handles long file names.

We are now testing FTPs OnNet 2.0. It seems pretty good, but not great to
install. Also has some authentication issues which we have not yet resolved.
