I think what you are looking for is pkgadd. You can make your own
packages. For directions go to the FTP archives at http://metalab.unc.edu

http://metalab.unc.edu/pub/solaris/sparc/html/creating.solaris.packag...

Norm.

Unix features are a proper superset of Windows features.

Install software?

Hi,

Solaris is 100% modular. It consists of a set of so-called packages.
To administer these packages Solaris provides a set of commands like
pkgadd, pkgrm, pkginfo, etc ...

Everything properly developped for Solaris should be embeded into a
package. The package contains info as where to install the contents,
how to remove, how much disc space is required etc ...

Unfortunetaly, it is very easy not to provide such a package, but
only binaries and README files :((

1. Install software with its prereq software in a different directory

Hi folks,
i have the follwoing problem
A software (A) needs for installation a different package (B) which is
not installed but available in a different directory.
example
# installp -ad /lppsource/A A.bff
# error needed fileset B.bff

# Directory structure
/lppsource/A
/lppsource/B

Is there any way to tell the installp command (maybe with an
enviroment variable) to use also the directory "/lppsource/B" for
installation ?
