Can I assume that a system ( E250 with Solaris 2.6 ) crashed
if I don't see a "syslogd: going down on signal 15" message in
/var/adm/messages just before the usual boot messages?
The system was enabled with crash dump.
Thanks
Thanks
killing the syslogd deamon gives the same message ... going down on
Sgnsl 15 ...
Also if core is enabled then you can see the core file in
/var/crash/servername..
Not all crash generates a core .. but if the server panicked then toy
can search the panic in /var/adm/messages..
cheers
/v

1. HELP - MSU's BSD systems intruded - all systems crashed
Someone apparently rebooted every single BSD system on campus in the
35.8.0.0 network. Anyone have an idea of what tools I could use to
monitor this type of unauthorized access.
Thanks,
