Net install problem

Net install problem

Post by Emery Rudolp » Mon, 03 Apr 2000 05:00:00

I set up my X86 Solaris box as both a boot and install server for my
sparcstation 10. When I start the sparc it loads and get right past
configuring devices and then comes back with the following error "
ERROR: bggetfile unable to access network install information"

Does anyone know where it is looking for this infomation or what
configuration needs to be made?

Thanks

1. Odd net install problem

I'm attempting to do a network install of 10 GA from an x86 server to an
old AXi based Sparc machine.

After a boot net, the Sparc hangs at "Configuring devices.".

Snooping the box, the last thing I see is:

Sparc -> x86          NFS C LOOKUP3 FH=3F90 devices
   x86 -> Sparc        NFS R LOOKUP3 OK FH=CA90
Sparc -> x86          NFS C LOOKUP3 FH=CA90 devid_cache.new
   x86 -> Sparc        NFS R LOOKUP3 No such file or dx86ectory
Sparc -> x86          NFS C LOOKUP3 FH=CA90 devid_cache.new
   x86 -> Sparc        NFS R LOOKUP3 No such file or dx86ectory
Sparc -> x86          NFS C CREATE3 FH=CA90 (GUARDED) devid_cache.new
   x86 -> Sparc        NFS R CREATE3 Read-only file system

The install server was set up by mounting the DVD iso (via lofi) on /mnt
then running add_install_client.

Any clues??
