Very Computer

I've just upgraded a SS1000E (4 processors) to 2.6, and run into the
following when
it boots:

    SunOS Release 5.6 Version Generic [ ... ]
    Copyright [ ... ]
    VxVM starting in boot mode...
    libthread panic: _dynamiclwps(): sigwait() returns err (PID: 10 LWP
0)
    stack trace:
        df79805c
        df7999e8
        df79bbb0
        0
    soc0: port0: Fibre Channel is ONLINE

At which point it stops and hangs forever.  I can get it to boot if I
physically
turn off my storage array (SSA 100).  I've applied a number of
recommended
patches, including the latest libthread patch (105223-03 if memory
serves).

Any ideas?

Umm... did you follow the instructions for how to upgrade the OS when using
Veritas (probably in your logical volume manager manuals)?  I haven't done it,
but from what the manual says, you need to unmount all of the volumes (except
/, swap, /usr, and /opt), use the upgrade scripts on the Volume Manager
software CD, upgrade the OS, run another upgrade script off the LVM cd, then
restore your original /etc/vfstab file.

Note, these are NOT the complete instructions, refer to the installation guide
for your volume manager software.

What version of Veritas are you running?  Release 2.4 or higher is
required for Solaris 2.6.  It sounds like you may be using 2.3 of VxVM.
Patches you should have include:

105208-03    Sun Enterprise Volume Manager 2.4: patch to support vxr5check,
105223-01    SunOS 5.6: kernel/drv/pln and usr/lib/firmware/ssa/ssafirmware patch
105356-02    SunOS 5.6: /kernel/drv/ssd patch
