Does anyone have any idea regarding why in Mozilla 1.6, the compose window
does not allow proper cursor manipulation (auto-word wrap on), and it has
actually wrapped several lines of text? I'm running Solaris 8 on Sparc
Ultra-10 3D running Netscape 7.0 and Mozilla 1.6 both, running CDE, exhibit
this behavior.
Specifically, let's say that I begin to type a really long paragraph and
then I begin the next paragraph. If I cursor up to the previous paragraph,
if I use left/right cursor keys and up/down keys (not on the numeric
keypad), it brings me either to the end of the paragraph, beginning or end
of the line, or other such unpredictable behaviors. I have to essentially
click with the mouse the location of text I wish to edit (very painful).
In other words, other editors will do as I type; left-arrow = moveto the
left, right-arrow = vertical move up, etc.
I asked the sysadmin apply all the patches suggested in the README for
Netscape 7.0, it made no difference. Since this happens only in Mozilla
1.6 and Netscape 7.0, it makes me think it's a machine-dependent problem.
This does not happen with Emacs, Xemacs, Nedit, pico, vi, or the older
Netscape 4.79.
Does anyone have a clue as to what this problem could be caused by, and a
possible solution?
Thanks in advance,
Rob Lockhart
P.S. I posted here versus the Mozilla forum since I'm not convinced it's a
Mozilla bug.
