xterm: Error 14, errno 13: Permission denied

Post by Choe Won G » Thu, 27 Oct 1994 11:53:36

I have this error when I run xterm (OW 3.3, Solaris 2.3 + X11R5). This only
happens to the OW xterm.

tori35%/usr/bin/X11/xterm         <-- OK, no problem

tori36%/usr/openwin/bin/xterm
xterm: Error 14, errno 13: Permission denied        <-- ???

Well, you may say then "why don't you alias xterm?" but what's more
improtant for me is, that I get  the same error when I run "hanterm",
a Korean language extension of xterm. Hanterm dies with the same
error, although it comes with X11R5, not OW.

But when I run the same program remotely on SunOS 4.1.3 machine
using rsh -n , it works .. so I am confused. How can I fix it??

Run truss on xterm and see where it gets EACCESS.
(truss -f).

Are /usr/lib/pt_chmod and /usr/lib/utmp_update still set-uid root?

1. exec of "blah" failed, reason: Permission denied (errno = 13)

I am in the middle of testing a new version of Apache.

Server version Apache/1.2.5 Ben-SSL/1.13 FrontPage/3.0.3.

It is running on a solaris 2.5.1 system.

It seems to be working fine except for one CGI scripts.  When I run
simple cgi scripts from a directory that is not a user directory, it
works fine.  When I run it from a user dir ~username, it fails with
the error:

exec of /home/chungmd/htdocs/cgi.bin/showenv.cgi failed, reason: Permission denied (errno = 13)

I tested this on the old server
        http://www.hardlink.com/~chungmd/cgi.bin/showenv.cgi

and it worked fine. But:

        http://www.hardlink.net/~chungmd/cgi.bin/showenv.cgi

Give that permission denied error.

The srm.conf and access.conf files have the same setup on both
servers.  If I run the same script from:

        http://www.hardlink.net/cgi.bin/showenv.cgi

It works.  I figure I missed something in the conf file but I
dont know what or in which one.

Any ideas would be great.

Robert Hardesty
