I've written a custome backup utility for a customer on a SparClassic
running Solaris1.1.1 (Sunos4.3.1). I'm using an Exabyte 8500 8mm tape
drive.
I have to use the 'mt -f /dev/nrst8 eom' command to move the tape to the end
of the media before I write the previous day's backup.
The problem: this 'mt' command fails when the machine is rebooted or the
tape is ejected and put back in. I get this error message:
/dev/nrst8 eom 1 failed: I/O error
ST0: Error for command 'space',

Sense key: Media Error
Vendor (Exabyte EXB-8500 emm Helical Scan)
Unique Error code: 0x14
Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated!
