As you see,  " /sanc " directory is not full.
But  error messages ,"  /sanc : File System Full " is dislayed and any files
is not saved any more.
The partition is located in an disk array Raid 5.
Host system is Ultra Enterprise5000.
I can't understand this. Please help me.

" File System full " error message : but the partition is not full.

I think maybe if the disk usage is greater than 90%, normal
user cann't write to disk, but root can. It can avoid the
disk really full. hope this help,

I believe what you are referring to is when the drive has reached the
reserved limit.  I cannot recall if it is still this way but when a drive
was newfs'd the system would reserve 10% (leftover from the days of 400MB
drives) of the space for system only access so users wouldn't be able to tie
up the filesystem.  That is why you can see some filesystems reporting over
100% usage.  If you want to reclaim some of the reserved space then you can
use tunefs to do so.  Refer to the tunefs manpage for further information.

Cheers,

-Chris

" File System full " error message : but the partition is not full.

Chanjoo,

You are out of I-nodes. You probable did newfs with i-node size of 2048 or
something small, and now you are paying the price.  You should've set
the i-node to 4096 or greater.   That is definitely your problem.  Don't
get confused by weird help messages.  You must re-newfs. Sorry.

If you're referring to the "-i" flag on newfs then a larger number is going
to result in fewer inodes, not more.
