Have you tried to boot with

boot -r

?

This boot command configures the devices. If this doesn't help try
probe-scsi,
maybe you have a hardware problem.

How to Mount CDROM

Hello,

This is indicated in Solaris's FAQs on the Web. Anyway, usually you can use:
mount -F hsfs -r /dev/dsk/c2t0d0s0 /mnt

But if you have Volmgt enabled, insert your cdrom, type "volcheck" and there you
go. At last, if you don't have the devices created, do the following:
#touch /reconfigure
#reboot

this will recreate the devices properly.
regards,
Saad.

ps: guess Solaris version is 2.5.1 or above ?

HI
if you are running a reasonably modern version of SOlaris (in fact they
all may do this), just put the cdrom in the drive, close the drive and
they will appear automatically.

create a directory in the root ( / )

just like this:

cd /
mkdir cdrom

then:

try to insert a cd-rom disk in the reader, and verify (after a few seconds)
that the auto-mount is done

doing :

ls -l /cdrom

if this does not work you probably have to mount manually the device
using mount (take a look at man mount)

Check your /etc/vold.conf file.

ensure the line starting with ..use cdrom .. is not commented out.
Try running your volume manager demon

1. Problem with mounting CDROM on a SCSI CDROM drive

Hello,

I have just received a CDROM from a supplier, with Windows95 and Linux
versions of the same software on it. When I attempt to mount this disk
with Redhat Linux V5.1 as an ISO9660 file system, I get the following
error:

mount: block device /dev/cdrom is write protected, mounting read-only
scsi0: MEDIUM ERROR on channel 0, id5, lun 0,CDB:Read (6)0000100100
Current error sr0b:00 sense key Medium Error
Additional sense indicates L-ec uncorrectable error
CD-ROM I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 64
isofs_read_super: bread failed, dev 0b:00 iso_blknum 16 block 32
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems

When I use another CDROM, the mount succeeds.

Does this indicate a problem with the CDROM? The CDROM is readable
from my Windows95 machine.

Please email if poss, because I don't have easy access to these
newsgroups.

Thanks, Paul
