Am trying to install Solaris 2.5 on an Ultra 5. Getting the following
msgs after a `boot cdrom`
boot : cannot open kernel/unix
Enter filename [krenel/unix]:
Appreciate your help.

You can also load 2.6 3/98 or [2.]7 FCS and newer.

1. installing solaris 2.5 on Sun Ultra 2 (250) server fails
i am not able to install solaris 2.5 on Ultra 2 (250) enterprise server.
though 2.6 and 2.8 installs went fine.
is it that Ultra 2(250) will not allow solaris 2.5 to be installed. Nowhere
in the HCL or etc docs i could find this.
but here is a piece of clue which suggests that 2.5 may not be allowed.
The answerbook that came along with the Ultra server clearly says that for
the answerbook install you should have atleast solaris 2.6 installed. hence
cani safely conclude that solaris 2.5 is not allowed to be installed.
