SunSoft Developer CD Issue 2 - oops!

Post by Andrew Gabri » Tue, 21 May 1996 04:00:00

A few SunSoft Developer CD's arrived in the post yesterday.
I put mine in the drive, fired up ./startcd, and after much disk
activity, I was greeted with a pop-up box saying Netscape had
expired. :-(

Nice one...  I think I'll keep my $99 thank-you.

Of course, if single licences were available for netscape on x86, I
would buy my own copy, but that's another issue. I would probably
also fork out the $99 for the SunSoft Developer CD Subscription,
but not whilst I can use it.

Netscape for Solaris Intel is out!  This from a recent post...
-----
I just got a copy of Netscape 3.0b4 for Solaris Intel from the Netscape ftp site.

I found it on ftp11.netscape.com under

/pub/navigator/3.0/3.0b4/unix/standard

netscape-v30b4-export.x86-sun-solaris2.4.tar.Z
netscape-v30b4-export.x86-sun-solaris2.4.tar.gz

Works like a champ.  Java applet support works too, tho
I haven't tested it thoroughly.

See ftp://ftp.netscape.com/pub/navigator/3.0/3.0b4/unix
(Or one of the many mirror sites around the world)

A beta version of the latest and greatest Netscape Navigator for Solaris x86
was made available directly from Netscape about a week ago.

Regards, Robert.

This is good news... however  I'm confused.

There are people selling Netscape 1.12 for $275 ....

Is this release any different to SunSofts announced June Netscape 2.0 release?

It's not FREE.  The idea is to pay for it when it gets out of beta.

Yeah but how much?

Why is Sun charging more than every other Netscape release?
