I use the Solaris 7 dhcp client to automatically configure my primary
ethernet card.
However my dhcp server (cisco 675 DSL modem) does not provide a
hostname.
As a result my box gets configured with the hostname "unknown".
I would like the system to be configure with a valid hostname.
Is there a way to configure the dhcp client to accept my desired
hostname as a default?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Here are some things I have tried that don't work:
(1) put the hostname in the file /etc/hostname.nei0
(2) I played around with the /etc/init.d/rootusr script
(I changed hostname=`unknown` to hostname=`myhostname`)
Thanks in advance.
