by Had a Sparc20 running 2.3 that I needed to upgrade to 2.4. Did the
upgrade, and it won't initialize the net ports. Right from the start
(in /etc/rcS.d/S30rootusr.sh), the command:
/sbin/ifconfig -au netmask + broadcast +
gets a segmentation fault and dumps core. If I do the same command
but put the proper numbers in, it works. Basically, I brought
networking up by hand on the system in question.
I did an upgrade a week ago on a Sparc2 from 2.2 to 2.4 with no ill
effects, and I've been busily comparing the systems. I can't find
anything wrong. /etc/netmasks is correct. Permissions are correct.
I added all the recommended patches (and our local systems
installation group recommends a superset so I installed those too.
Any ideas? What should I be looking at/for?
