I just bought a dell latitude xpicd which has the neo magic 2090 video
chipset and I'd really like to install Unix with X-Windows on a
partition. I'm curious to find out if any other people have had luck
getting X to work on their laptops that have the NeoMagic 2090 chipset?

My two preferences are either Solaris x86 or Linux. Just curious if
anyone has had any luck with either one and getting X running in better
than plain old 640x480 and 16 colors mode? Please mail me any responses
as well as posting to the newsgroup. Thanks!

Todd,
I was over on Sun's Web site today and remember seeing some info on
that video chipset in the X86 Compatibility listings. It would be
worth your while to check it out. If my memory serves, there is a
driver update for Solaris 2.5.1 that addresses this and some other
stuff.
