I am trying to install PPP on a SPARCstation 10 running Solaris 2.3 (a
fresh OS installation). I am attempting a simple dial-in server
configuration. The asppp.cf file contains:
ifconfig ipd0 plumb 22.214.171.124 up
inactivity_timeout 120 # Approx. 2 minutes
Where the net 142.92.50.x is a dedicated net for PPP to this machine.
The passwd entry looks like this:
pppuser:x:231:231:PPP Link for Sam:/:/usr/sbin/aspppls
The PPP user in this case is a PC running the PC/TCP software from FTP Inc.
The problem is that the Solaris machine panics and crashes each time
the pppuser dials in and tries to make the PPP connection. It looks
like the LCP layer connection is made, but then the Sun crashes when
the IPCP layer is attempted.
I have tried various configuration options on both ends and the Sun
machine panics each time.
Has anyone seen a Solaris machine do this kind of thing with PPP? Any
patches I should know about? Any suggestions on what to try next?
