How about pressing the break key?!  If you're in via telnet,
use send-brk (sp?).

Sending L1-A from vt terminal

Post by James R. Owen » Wed, 23 Oct 1996 04:00:00

We have a machine running AIX and Amity to provide virtual
consoles for our machine room. Some of the machines with these
virtual consoles are SUNs. We would like to be able to send the
L1-A/Break signal through these consoles to the SUN.

Does anyone know of a way to define this key stroke? Someone mentioned
doing it in the .Xdefaults and using that.

Anyone suggestions would be appreciated.

You need to send a <break> to the SUn on the serial line.  I'm not
familiar with Amity.  There must be some way to make Amity send a
break.

We use a sparcclassic with a Sbus multiserial interface board to
connect to the A ports on our servers. The virtual consoles are
simple "xterm -e tip portname" type commands. So if what you use
is similar (i.e. using tip) try ~#
The ~# sequence must be the first characters after a newline.

1. Using VT-100/VT-220 terminals with Linux box

I would like to have some sort of VT-100/VT-220 (whatever works) terminal(s)
to hook up to my linux box to allow logins. How do these typically hook up,
serial port or ethernet (I'd prefer ethernet, 10baseT)? What terminals can
be
had for a cheap cost, preferably with a monitor? I've posted a message to
misc.forsale.computers.workstation looking, but haven't gotten any replies.

I'm sure this has been done, any help out there?

Thanks!
