Adaptec 2940 (PCI) and Solaris 2.4 x86 Install?

Adaptec 2940 (PCI) and Solaris 2.4 x86 Install?

Post by S Ly » Sun, 22 Jan 1995 05:53:37

Does anyone know if it is possible to install Solaris x86 on a PCI
system using the Adaptec 2940 SCSI controller?   The install program
doesn't seem to recognize the 2940 -- and it's not in the last
HW compatibilitiy list I've seen.    Does anyone know of a workaround,
or future plans for supporting this card?

Thanks
Bill Lyon

Sun released the driver update 4, which has the 2940 driver
 among other things.
You can get it on their ftp site or off the Compuserve forum.

You need driver update 4 or later.

The solaris FAQ says:

3.29) Where can I obtain Solaris 2/x86 driver updates?

The Solaris x86 driver updates can be obtained by anonymous ftp from:

        ftp.uu.net:/vendor/sun/sun-doc/x-86-driver

Get driver update 4.  It contains the driver for the 2940.

1. Sony CDU55S and Adaptec 2940 (PCI) with Solaris 2.4 for x86?

I noticed in the Solaris(tm) 2.4 x86 Hardware Compatability List that
the Sony CDU-55S doesnt work with the Adaptec 2940 PCI SCSI card. I was
wondering if anyone knew why (and why), and what versions of each are
affected.  I noticed the last 2940 was a rev F card, and Im curious if
this warning only applies to older revs.  Thanks!
