Anybody know this warning message before?

Post by Super-Use » Wed, 12 Apr 2000 04:00:00

I am using Solaris 7, and I periodically receive this warning message in
my /var/adm/messages, that is, "  : WARNING: interrupt level 4 not
serviced".
Does anybody know what it means and how to get rid of it?

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Edward

It means you have a device generating interrupts and no driver installed to
handle that device.

Ignore it. Something to do with the IDE disk driver, but the fault is
pretty much only that that message is generated, not that anything *
is going wrong in the driver.

Try installing patch 107458.  There is a bug in the IDE driver which
causes spurious interrupts.

This topic has been covered several times both on the groups to which
this has been xposted and others.

This messge is my own opinion and does not constitute official support

Just ignore it.  It is one of the many bugs in SOLARIS.  Happily
this one (unlike their NIS bugs) is harmless.  It is merely another
annoyance that SUN users deal with on a daily basis.  :-(

Upgrade to a non-SOLARIS UNIX system such as IBM AIX, SGI IRIX, HP
HP-UX or COMPAQ Tru64 UNIX.

                        Hope this helps,
                              Don

1. anybody knows IP message header format?

Dear People

My STREAMS module sits in the layer as follows:

socket-library (SOCK_DGRAM)
streams-head
MY-STREAM-MODULE
/dev/udp STREAMS driver

I want to create and send out UDP packets from my module downstream.
To do that I need to create at least two message blocks mblk_t:
M_PROTO - Destination port/address
M_DATA - Actual payload

Problem is, what is the format of the header in M_PROTO?
Where is the documentation to refer to?

Cheers
Tsay Mien
