can someone clarify what is the difference between enable, disable, accept

The man pages explain that they're used for printer queues.

Accept/reject control whether a print job will be queued in a
printer's queue.

Enable/disable control whether a print job in a printer's queue
will be sent to the printer.

The bash shell apparently uses enable/disable to control command
aliases...

It is confusing isn't it?

enable and disable affect whether the queueing system tries to process
things that are already in the queue.

accept and reject affect whether the queueing system allows new things
to be put into the queue.
