I've used dd (on Solaris) with good results:

        dd if=/dev/rdsk/c0t2d0s2 of=image_file.iso bs=1024k

but that only works if it's not mounted.

Sun Boot CD's have partitions, this is why there is a 'readcd' command.

If you read the cdrecord domumentation, you know this...

Oops, now that I reconsider, I realize that I've copied a lot of CD's
with the dd command, but *not* a Solaris boot CD.
