How do I make an iso of my solaris 2.6 cd

How do I make an iso of my solaris 2.6 cd

Post by Gre » Sun, 20 May 2001 05:30:38

My company uses solaris 2.6 (which sun is discontinuing support for)
and we would like to make some backup cd's.  I have mkisofs (and
cdrecord) on a RedHat 7.1 box, but I can't seem to create a workable
iso from my cd.  Any suggestions as to what flags to use with mkisofs
(or what program to use instead) in order to create an iso?

Thanks!

Greg

I've used dd (on Solaris) with good results:

        dd if=/dev/rdsk/c0t2d0s2 of=image_file.iso bs=1024k

but that only works if it's not mounted.

good luck,

Don't do that!

Sun Boot CD's have partitions, this is why there is a 'readcd' command.

If you read the cdrecord domumentation, you know this...

Oops, now that I reconsider, I realize that I've copied a lot of CD's
with the dd command, but *not* a Solaris boot CD.

off to reread the cdrecord docs
