I am STILL UNABLE to run the Sun CDE.

Does anyone have any further suggestions as to HOW to get this thing to
work properly (even AFTER perforing a POWER UP)?

This is a very nonspecific problem description.  Can you give some
details so far?

Hey man, try doing an "ifconfig (everything)  down", which means take
all of your network stuff down, so CDE will not try to look for it, and
crash.

I had the same problem, I then screwed around until NOTHING worked with
CDE, not even itself, then I re-installed it.  It worked, BUT every time
I started it, before doing "openwin" or "dtlogin"  I would ifconfig
xxxxx down.

I dunno man, worked for me.  One thing though don't use CDE if you are
using a slow network connection (PPP) because you will spend hours
waiting for stupid timeouts everywhere.

1. SPARC Solaris 2.6/CDE 1.2 Sun CDE extension question

I'm running Solaris 2.6 with the March 98 patches, along with the
new CDE Sun extension.

When this combo is used, the nice front panel clock turns into a northern
polar view of earth, with the clock hands turning red.

After some grunging, I got the clock face I wanted back.  However, the
hands of the clock are still red.  Anyone know how I can turn the clock
hands either white or black?
