automount seems to die on our sparc server 1000 running solaris 2.4
with jumbo kernel patch 101945-29. The automount daemon is still
running, but an ls of /net or any other automounted file system
hangs the process.  Stopping and restarting the autmount using
/etc/init.d/autofs fixes the problem, but it is reoccuring on an
almost daily basis. Has anybody else seen these symptons ?
   Suggestions ?

I haven't my 101945-29 automountd hang, but I do get strange errors in
the /var/adm/messages file.  We use the -hosts map a lot.  I don't
think this is a good idea, as it seems to be unreliable, but it is
awfully convenient.  Anyway, I don't know if our troubles are related
specifically to the -hosts map or not, but here are some of the
messages we get:

Aug 28 18:32:00 pneuma automountd[154]: Mount of conestoga:/u5 on /n/conestoga : Device busy
Aug 28 18:48:53 pneuma automountd[154]: conestoga:udp: No such file or directory
Aug 28 19:39:59 pneuma automountd[154]: Mount of conestoga:/u5 on /n/conestoga : Device busy
Aug 28 19:48:10 pneuma automountd[154]: conestoga:udp: No such file or directory
Aug 28 19:56:11 pneuma automountd[154]: Mount of conestoga:/u5 on /n/conestoga : Device busy
Aug 29 08:49:29 pneuma automountd[154]: epoch:inet: No such file or directory
Aug 29 09:23:48 pneuma automountd[154]: Mount of superb:/u5 on /n/superb : Device busy
Aug 29 10:16:14 pneuma automountd[154]: server  not responding
Aug 29 10:16:14 pneuma automountd[154]: Mount of conestoga:/u5 on /n/conestoga : Device busy
Aug 29 11:25:03 pneuma automountd[154]: superb:udp: No such file or directory
Aug 29 11:57:14 pneuma automountd[154]: server  not responding
Aug 29 13:21:53 pneuma automountd[154]: Mount of conestoga:/u5 on /n/conestoga : Device busy

Strange things here are: when it says `Mount of conestoga:/u5 on
/n/conestoga : Device busy', it shouldn't be trying to mount
conestoga:/u5 on /n/conestoga, it should be mounting it on
/n/conestoga/u5.

I have no idea what `conestoga:udp: No such file or directory' would
mean.

And note the extra space in `server  not responding'.  It's like it has
an empty hostname in that string.

1. problems with 101945-29

Hi!

After installing patch 101945-29 on all our machines (server and clients)
we have now problems logging into our diskless clients.
It just shows:
open /dev/logindmux: No such file or directory.
and then closes the connection.

A reconfigure boot didn't solve the problem. Trying to forceload the
driver (logindmux) in /etc/system or explicitly loading it later
doesn't work.
modload /kernel/drv/logindmux only shows:
can't load module: Out of memory or no room in system tables

But just the diskless clients make problems. Other machines with only
16MB RAM work.

BTW. I have installed the patch on the server (with
./installpatch -R/export/root/<client> `pwd`)

Thanks for any help.

Daniel
