E3000 Clock Board #2

E3000 Clock Board #2

Post by Craig G. Anderse » Thu, 06 May 1999 04:00:00

The question is what in the '/usr/platform/.../prtdiag -v' indicates
a 100Mhz clock board ?

The following indicates that the CPU board is a new one capable of
100Mhz,
but that doesn't indicate that the clock board is 100Mhz.

ASIC Revisions:
---------------
Brd  FHC  AC  SBus0  SBus1  PCI0  PCI1  FEPS  Board Type      Attributes

---  ---  --  -----  -----  ----  ----  ----  ----------      ----------

 0    1    5                                  CPU             98MHz
Capable
 1    1    5    1      1                 22   Dual-SBus       84MHz
Capable

The following 2 systems are different in that the System clock frequency
is
84 Mhz and 82 Mhz respectively. Does this indicate that the 82 Mhz clock

frequency is the non-100Mhz clock board ?

The 100Mhz board is needed for the 336Mhz CPUs.
The second system has 250 Mhz CPUs.

System clock frequency: 84 MHz

Bad Form ! Both the 250 Mhz and 336 Mhz CPUs require the 100Mhz boards.

1. E3000 100Mhz Clock Board

Is there an easy way to tell if you have the 100 Mhz clock board installed ?

Perhaps 'prtconf' or /usr/platform/.../sbin/prtdiag ?
